About
Originally from Cornwall, I lived for many years at the Gurnards Head Hotel near St Ives, which I helped to run with my family. I was fortunate to have the walls of the bar and restaurant to fill with my early paintings.
Now based in Bristol, I work from BV Studios. I paint in oils, exploring portraiture, still life, and landscape. I'm currently working on paintings shaped by my surroundings, and the docks in Bristol are a great source of inspiration.
I regularly exhibit at the Royal Society of Portrait Painters annual show, the RWA Annual Open Exhibition, and have exhibited with the New English Art Club, and BP Portrait Awards.
Notable commissions include portraits for The London Business School, The University of Bristol, The Wills Hall Association, Manor Hall and posthumous portraits commissioned by Brian Stannah MBE.
Alongside my love of painting, my second passion is music. I play the violin, specialising in Irish fiddle, both professionally and for pleasure. I live in central Bristol with my wife and our two daughters.
I share an annual newsletter with news and updates. If you’d like to receive one, please sign up here.
