Commissioning a portrait
Clients may commission a portrait to mark a personal milestone, create a lasting family record, or honour the memory of a loved one. Each portrait is a collaborative process, focused on capturing both likeness and character.

Before painting begins, I make drawings from life and take photographs. Life sittings typically last 2 x 2 hours and are arranged for convenience. A final preparatory drawing is developed from this material, and the painted portrait is then completed in my Bristol studio

Portrait prices
Portrait commission prices are based on the size of the canvas and the level of background detail.

Prices start at £4,000 for a head-and-shoulders oil portrait (25 x 30cm) with a simple coloured background.

A group portrait of four people (for example, two parents and two children, 90 x 120cm) is priced from £16,000. A full list of canvas sizes and starting prices can be viewed here.

Framing
If framing is required, I work closely with an experienced framer to select high-quality mouldings that complement the finished artwork.

You are, of course, welcome to arrange framing with a framer of your choice if preferred.
